Flower Mound deserves a mayor who cares about where we go from here.
Flower Mound deserves a mayor who cares about where we go from here.
1. My first goal in being Mayor is to ensure that we attract and hire the brightest and best talent, starting with our next Town Manager. Our future Town Manager must be respectful, ethical, and trustworthy. Active listening skills are key to communicating with me, the Council, residents, and town staff at all levels. We will have a fresh-faced Mayor and Town Manager with no history of infighting. Together, we will strive for diplomacy in leadership.
2. As we continue to grow, we will want to update our traffic lights. Our traffic lights run completely independent of each other. It may appear that we have a traffic problem, in fact we have a traffic light challenge.
3. As the face of Flower Mound, you will continue to see me at the Farmers Market and other community events, connecting with you. Community engagement is one of my largest priorities, I will always hear you out. I’m your neighbor and I care.
Templeton Demographics expressed recently that when the average entry-level home pricing exceeds the starter home price, the enrollment of elementary schools is directly impacted. Our Flower Mound schools have been impacted, some nearly at 75% capacity. Families with small children do not have many housing options in Flower Mound and this is impacting our schools. We need to start addressing this.
If commercial development is discouraged from moving into Flower Mound, then sources of revenues from sales tax and commercial property tax fail to grow at the same rate as residential property taxes. This puts more burden on us residents to pay for our wonderful town service. I will continue to attract and keep companies like Stryker in steppingstones Flower Mound.
Both our next Mayor and Town Manager will be fresh faces. We will look forward to fresh faces, with no history of infighting, who do not view public leadership positions as stepping stones. I will be a Mayor for all, not just those who voted for me. We will move forward together, as a town, with stewards who truly care.
As your next Mayor, I will lead with diplomacy and care in all matters, as will our next Town Manager.
We love what we're seeing out of Furst! With schools, a hospital, and retail, this is a well thought out mixed-use development on land planned for exactly that. The development will have a small impact on our traffic but a HUGE benefit to our property taxes.
Preferably we do not add any apartments to the mix until 377 is expanded. However, If we reject this project, we are at risk as the land owner could de-annex this property from Flower Mound and become part of Argyle.
If that happens, we would not receive the great tax dollar benefits for our Town.
We are aging in place; this is directly impacting our Flower Mound schools. Many of our elementary schools are well below capacity. We understand that our charter schools also have implications here. However, Templeton Demographics expressed recently that when the average entry-level home pricing exceeds the starter home price, the enrollment of elementary schools is directly impacted.
Families with small children do not have many housing options in Flower Mound and this is directly impacting our schools. We need to start thinking about single-family density differently. Often folks hear medium - high density and equate that to apartments, that’s not always the case.
Morris will not be expanded and this is a done deal.
In Flower Mound we do not have a traffic issue, we have a traffic light challenge. Our traffic lights do not talk to each other, they work independent of each other. The technology is out there and it would benefit our community to look into this further.
